God doesn't play. The Israelites are enjoying the harvest provided by God. They take their prosperity and use it to further their worship of false gods. God gives them time, direction and grace and still - they turn away from doing what's right.

Here's five lessons we all need to learn:

1. Good Times from God’s generosity won’t last when people ignore God.

2. Fake religion & false idols reveal hearts full of fraud.

3. You will become the idol you worship. A stone god can’t hear, speak or save you. Worship stone and your heart will harden.

4. Human works can’t stop God’s will in judgement. We will be held accountable for our actions of sin.

5. We Receive What We Give. Reap What We Sow. Harvest what we plant. Real Repentance Seeks the LORD

This looks like the sequence repeated when we ignore God:

  1. Conviction - We're found guilty of ignoring God willfully and sinfully.

  2. Prediction - God lets us know there's a penalty on the way. We will be held accountable.

  3. Judgment - God's justice as He evaluates our right or wrong standing with Him.

AND ULTIMATELY -

  1. Verdict - Eternal life or eternal death.

Methinks it would be wise to be in right standing with God today, you never know if there'll n\be a tomorrow.
