The Seven E’s of Resiliency
1. Resiliency is the ability to bounce back after a struggle through hard times, bad times and brokenness.
• 2. Resiliency knows life will never be “trouble-free.”
• Trusting God to help guide you through tough times will build your character.
• 3. Adversity strengthens you and opens doors to greater opportunities in your life.
• 4. Resilience is the process of restoration gained by creating healthy habits and boundaries. What you eat, how much you sleep and how often you exercise are in direct correlation to your level of energy needed to be resilient.
• 5. Healthy decision-making is rooted and grounded in your understanding of “cause and effect.” What effect will be caused by the decision you make? What reaction will be a result of your action?
• 6. Regulate your emotions; Control your anger. Refuse to be offended.
• 7. Release your emotions. Journal your thoughts or share with someone you trust if you need to release something that’s causing you to be angry, upset or hurt.
The Seven E’s of Resiliency
1. 8. Earn - Earning is the payment for your hard work. Do your work as if you are working for God. Shoddy and shabby work reflects a character flaw and is shameful in the eyes of God who made you in His image and likeness. (Gen. 1:27, Col. 3:9,10, James 3:8,9)
⁃ 9. “And don’t just do the minimum that will get you by. Do your best. Work from the heart for your real Master, for God, confident that you’ll get paid in full when you come into your inheritance. Keep in mind always that the ultimate Master you’re serving is Christ. The sullen servant who does shoddy work will be held responsible. Being a follower of Jesus doesn’t cover up bad work.” Colossians 3:22-25 MSG
2. 10. Eliminate - Eliminating excuses removes obstacles to your success. Look for the unseen reality of God in the reality of His creation around you. The miry, bloodstained clay at the foot of the cross greets each day in a sunrise. And when the day is finished, it closes with another bloodstained sunset. Blood, sweat and tears mixed with the clay of the human condition is contained in every day.
⁃ 11. “There are things about God that people cannot see—his eternal power and all that makes him God. But since the beginning of the world, those things have been easy for people to understand. They are made clear in what God has made. So people have no excuse for the evil they do. Romans 1:20 ERV
3. 12. Embrace - Embracing and living by a moral code guided by God’s Word. Go “all in” with God in pursuing a Christ-like life.
⁃ “So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.” Romans 12:1-2 MSG
4. 13. Empty - Empty and unload your mind of the “can’t do’s,” and “shouldn’t do’s.” Admit where you are weak and ask Gods how you can become stronger. Be transparent and real with God.
⁃ “So whoever cleanses himself [from what is ignoble and unclean, who separates himself from contact with contaminating and corrupting influences] will [then himself] be a vessel set apart and useful for honorable and noble purposes, consecrated and profitable to the Master, fit and ready for any good work.” 2 Timothy 2:21 AMPC
5. 14. Emulate- Emulate and imitate Christ in your relationships. Develop a system of thinking that gives you a pattern to follow in all circumstances and decision making.
⁃ “PATTERN YOURSELVES after me [follow my example], as I imitate and follow Christ (the Messiah).” 1 Corinthians 11:1 AMPC
6. 15. Encourage - Encouraging words fuel hope. Be a hope giver and provider. Season your conversations with words of “brighter days.” Let your entrance into a conversation be accompanied by the expectancy of positive words and inspiration. Reassure and strengthen those who are downtrodden by life experiences.
⁃ 16. “Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice.” Isaiah 41:10 AMPC
7. 17. Endeavor - Endeavor is the aim and effort of travail and struggle as you push in to greater things. Be earnest in your endeavor - be passionate, purposeful and devoted in pursuing what you hope to achieve. Three synonyms for endeavor are, “full court press” and “best shot,” and “all.” Wise folks give their all.
⁃ “Never lag in zeal and in earnest endeavor; be aglow and burning with the Spirit, serving the Lord.” Romans 12:11 AMPC
⁃ 18. “Work hard and do not be lazy. Serve the Lord with a heart full of devotion.”Romans 12:11 GNT
⁃ 19. “Be enthusiastic to serve the Lord, keeping your passion toward him boiling hot! Radiate with the glow of the Holy Spirit and let him fill you with excitement as you serve him.” Romans 12:11 TPT
⁃ 20. “Don’t burn out; keep yourselves fueled and aflame. Be alert servants of the Master, cheerfully expectant. Don’t quit in hard times; pray all the harder. Help needy Christians; be inventive in hospitality.” Romans 12:11-13 MSG
