The following is a part of a Chapel Presentation to middle school students at Camp Verde United Christian School.

Dressed up as an elderly, sojourning Grandfather, Biblebob tells Middle School students a story adapted from The Gift of the Magi" written by O. Henry in 1905. It's about a young, impoverished couple buying secret Christmas gifts for each other with very little money. As a sentimental story with a moral lesson about self-less sacrifice in giving gifts,

I come to you as a sojourner from a far away land.

I come to you as a visitor with an empty hand.

I come to you with nothing your eyes can see.

I come to you with a gift of promise that will make you truly free.

I come to you with an offering, a present from my heart.

I come to you with a blessing of favor; a beautiful fresh start.

I bring to you the precious gift of story.

I bring to you news about the King of Glory.

I bring to you a gift that is imperishable.

I bring to you a gift forever cherishable.

I bring to you a gift that cannot be destroyed.

I bring to you God’s love that you cannot avoid.

I ask of you to consider, what’s the greatest gift you can give.

I ask of you to consider your life story that death cannot outlive.

Verily, verily I say unto you hear the words of everlasting life.

Verily, verily I say unto you know the Truth that goes beyond death into new life.

The greatest thing you can give to one another is not the gift of something that will perish, but the gift of something that will last forever.

Whatever your life story, let it be retold for God’s glory..

Let your life story reflect God’s love.

Let your life story give grace and forgiveness.

Let your life story shine with lovingkindness.

You must begin today to be story-makers.

Make a life story of your very own.

Be a life story where God’s love is shown.

“In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the [sound of the] last trumpet call. For a trumpet will sound, and the dead [in Christ] will be raised imperishable (free and immune from decay), and we shall be changed (transformed).” 1 Corinthians 15:52 AMPC

Thanks for your time. Go do something nice for somebody. Jesus loves you and so do we.
